Signs of Safety Steering Group - IRO Service

SOS

As part of the Signs of Safety project plan, the IRO Service is working on a development plan for full implementation of the Signs of Safety approach in child protection case conferences. As a step towards this, a new agenda for conferences was introduced on 1st September 2018. This is to ensure that the principles of the Signs of Safety approach become embedded, and meetings are much more family- focused.

What you can expect to see

The meeting will follow a new agenda which will include:

  • Examples of direct work with the children
  • Genogram or family map
  • Parenting Strengths/What’s working well
  • Danger Statements
  • Safety Plan/ What needs to happen
  • Safety Goals

Discussions will be more family led and less professional led

One or more scaling questions will be used in the meeting to assess the current situation

SOS Child Protection Conference Agenda

We are currently in the process of testing the new agenda and are gathering feedback from IROs, social workers, partner agencies and families to develop this further. Please contact Louisa Day, Practice Development Officer – Signs of Safety at louisa.day@cumbria.gov.uk  with any feedback on the new agenda or conference process.
