Ofsted Inspection

On Monday Children and Families Services received the telephone call from Ofsted which initiated the inspection of children in need of help and protection, children looked after and care leavers. The inspection will follow the full four-week Single Inspection Framework. This is to ensure full coverage of the county and all aspects of the framework.

Although there will not be a re-inspection of the LSCB, inspectors will look at partnership arrangements and the impact on children, especially in strategy meetings, conferences and early help and they may be observing some of those multi-agency meetings.

We are almost at the end of the first week of the inspection and headline feedback has included:

          Early Help Panels are well attended and case discussions are appropriate;

          Emerging use of Signs of Safety to identify strengths and risks;

          Good strategy meetings that are timely and well attended with appropriate decisions;

          There is evidence of the use of the graded care profile;

          Appropriate Child in Need meetings that are multi-agency

We’ve done an incredible amount of work to improve the services we provide for children and families and this will be our chance to demonstrate the progress that has been made. We are focused on improving outcomes for children and young people and that focus is making a difference.
