Child Sexual Exploitation Training - Dates Available

Cumbria LSCB still has places available on its 2017/18 CSE Training.  

Professionals must have completed the LSCB Safeguarding Children from Abuse by Sexual Exploitation e-learning (or equivalent) prior to attending the LSCB CSE workshops. 

Half Day Awareness

Half Day Awareness Raising which aim to raise all professionals' awareness of CSE and their role in identifying and addressing it.  Expected outcomes of this workshop include:

  • Improved recognition of CSE and vulnerabilities to becoming a victim
  • Knowledge of the screening process and making a referral 
  • Understanding of what CSE looks like in Cumbria
  • Understanding the child's perspective
  • Improved awareness of the legislation, research and policy context

Full Day Learning Workshops

Full Day Learning Workshops which are for practitioners and managers who work directly with children who have experienced Child Sexual Exploitation or are identified as at risk of exploitation. As a practitioner your work will typically involve you in Team around the Family meetings, CiN meetings, Core Groups etc.  This includes IROs. Expected outcomes include: 

  • Improved awareness of the legislation, research and policy context
  • Improved recognition of CSE and vulnerabilities to becoming a victim
  • Knowledge of and confidence in undertaking risk assessments
  • Understanding of what CSE looks like in Cumbria
  • Improved understanding of models of offending, including grooming techniques of victims and others
  • Knowledge of effective interventions with children and young people
  • Understanding of how to engage with victims, parents and carers
  • Knowledge of and confidence in applying procedures, including what to do if you believe/know a child is a victim of CSE
  • Improved understanding of the roles of different agencies in managing referrals, risk and protection including SARC, Central Hub and district community Police, 3rd sector, Sexual Health and Children's Services are understood
