Superfast Broadband - Get Digital Faster launch


Get Digital Faster   

Around 40 businesses attended the ‘Fibre for Breakfast’ launch of “Get Digital Faster” in Bolton on 18th March.

Delegates heard how fibre broadband is being extended to parts of Bolton, how the technology works, and how digital services can help their businesses. SMEs may also be eligible for a Broadband Connection voucher, worth up to £3,000, to get connected.

To take advantage, businesses need to request a superfast service from an internet provider (it is not an automatic upgrade). Vouchers should also be requested through their current or new provider.

Get Digital Faster and connection vouchers are funded by ERDF, British government, local authorities and BT.

Equinox Technologies – Innovation support

Our Business Growth Advisor, Jonathon has recently supported Westhoughton based electronics company, Equinox Technologies Ltd to successfully apply for an Innovation Voucher (part funded by the University of Manchester) to develop an innovation based project plan. The company are a leading player in the Integrated Circuit (IC) In-System Programming (ISP) market and aims to use the support available to access the expertise, specialist knowledge and proto-type development capabilities provided by the University to help grow their business.

In addition to the development of a new product with commercial potential, other anticipated outcomes include job creation with an increase in turnover and profits.

Is your website mobile friendly?

Google will be using ‘mobile-friendliness’ as part of their search rankings from Tuesday 21st April 2015 which could put your website lower down the search engine rankings if it isn’t designed in this way.

Check out Google’s tips below to see if your website is ‘mobile-friendly’

1. Take Google's mobile-friendly test and check out your website
2. Visit Google's guide to mobile-friendly sites which offers several ways to improve your site
3. Use Webmaster Tools to generate a mobile usability report to identify any ‘mobile’ issues with your website
