Bolton Jobs and Skills Fair 2015 - Don't miss out!

Bolton Jobs and Skills Fair 2015

Over 70 businesses have already signed up for Bolton's annual Jobs and Skills Fair, which takes place on Thursday 24th September from 10am to 2.30pm at Bolton College. As the largest employment and training event in Bolton, with over 1,500 job seekers expected to attend, it's a fantastic free opportunity to recruit the staff you need.

The Skills Fair is followed by the 'Futures 4 Me' event for Year 11 students and parents which promotes Post-16 choices and takes place between 3.30pm and 7.00pm. This event is also open to employers to promote career opportunities at their business.

A few spaces are still available for employers. To book you free space or advertise any vacancies at the Jobs and Skills Fair, please call (01204) 482 036 or sign up at www.findyourfuture2015.co.uk

Innovation Vouchers Competition - win up to £5,000 in support

Innovation Vouchers Competition 2015

Local businesses can enter a competition to help them access up to £5,000 to pay for an external expert to help them grow. Funding can be used to provide advice on a new idea or design, help make the most of intellectual property (IP), or buy time or support with specialist equipment or facilities.

To qualify, businesses need to be running a micro, small or medium sized UK business, need help with a real challenge (not just a small improvement or change) and have not previously received an innovation voucher from Innovate UK or the Technology Strategy Board.

Deadline for applications is 12 noon on 20 October 2015.
Eligible entries will be entered into a draw and winners are chosen at random.

Work based pensions - what's the staging date for your business?

Business Bolton - Grant Scheme

Did you know that even with one employee you are now legally obliged to introduce a workplace pension scheme for your employees? Even if you already pay contributions into a staff pension scheme, you still need to check if it's suitable for automatic enrolment.

The date your automatic enrolment duties start is called your staging date and is when the law comes into effect for you. It can be found on the letters about automatic enrolment that are sent to you by The Pensions Regulator.

If you don't know your staging date you can find this by visiting the website below and using your PAYE reference. You should find out your staging date approximately 12 months before your duties come into effect, as there are many tasks which you’ll need to complete. If you don't pay your staff through a PAYE scheme, your staging date will be 1 April 2017.
