Spring
Craft Fayre, 19 April at Highbury Hall. Come and do some shopping
for unusual gifts from a variety of stalls. The house and grounds are open to
view too. Free admission from 11am.
Artists
for Ikon, 24 April - 4 May. Ikon’s 50th anniversary
celebrations culminate with Artists for Ikon, an exhibition followed by
a major contemporary art auction at Sotheby’s, London. The exhibition will
preview works donated for the auction by some of the most important
contemporary artists.
Mark the Centenary of the Gallipoli campaign on Saturday 25 April. Wreath laying at
the Hall of Memory at 11am. Live entertainment from 12 noon in Centenary
Square.
Celebrate St
George's Day with the annual concert at Symphony Hall on Saturday 25
April.
Vaisakhi celebrations will
take place at Handsworth Park on Sunday 26 April with live music,
entertainment, sports and food.

to create head office in Birmingham. Global bank HSBC will be locating the national head office of
its ring-fenced bank, which will serve its personal and business customers, in
Birmingham city centre.
Community
governance consultation deadline. Residents who
want to have their say on local democracy have just a few days left to complete a survey
or submit a written contribution.
Council
welcomes Improvement Plan sign off.
Birmingham City Council has welcomed the sign off, by the Independent
Improvement Panel, of their ‘Organisational Improvement: Year One Action Plan'.

Smithfield Consultation. Giving local
people the opportunity to have their say on the future of the Birmingham Smithfield
site.
Daily Jobseeker website
launched. The Department for Work and
Pensions has launched a new website featuring a range of helpful hints, tips
and videos to help people get back to work.
Garden Waste Service. Birmingham
residents can book online and receive a £2 discount (annual fee
normally £35).
Cycle revolution set for fresh £30 million boost. Plans worth £30 million, to accelerate the Birmingham Cycle Revolution, have been endorsed by the Department for Transport after the city council’s ambitious plans impressed government ministers.

with you – your vote! You need to get on the electoral register by 20 April to
