Christmas
Truce to be commemorated in Birmingham. Choirs from Birmingham and Frankfurt
will join together on 20 December to help mark the centenary of the First World
War Christmas Truce.
Join
the commemorations for Holocaust Memorial Day for this year’s
‘Keeping the Memory Alive’ ceremony at the Town Hall on 25 January from 1.30pm.

Chinese New Year at the
Arcadian Centre to bring in the Year of the Sheep on 22 February and St
Patrick’s Day on 15 March at our city parade.

at the Custard Factory. Check out Birmingham’s
Alternative Christmas Fair on 20 December in Digbeth for a fun and funky
festive day out.
Willard Wigan: Through the Eye of A Needle.
11 – 25 January. Library of Birmingham Marvel
at the micro sculptures of world-renowned artist Willard Wigan MBE, so minute
they can only be seen through a microscope.
Wassail
at the Lickeys. 17 January, 4.30 – 6.30pm. Come and join in this centuries’ old
rural tradition as the park celebrates the completion of the orchard. Bring
warming winter drinks, a good singing voice and wellies.
Have your
say on the future of council services. The council’s Budget Consultation
2015+ is up and running following the publication of a white paper. Factsheets
that highlight the key changes proposed for each of the service areas are also
available to view online. Find out how to have your say by 12 January here.
Birmingham
Budget Consultation Webchat. If you missed our
BrumBudget15 Q&A webcast, where our Cabinet Committee answered questions
from the public about the financial situation facing the council, you can catch
up with the archived version.
New Year (Cycle) Revolution. Turn
over a new leaf in 2015 by switching some journeys from car to bike. Save

Winter Commuter Challenge in January.

Speaks. We’re facing some

Moving our city forward. This
year will see unprecedented levels of investment and activity to improve Birmingham's
transport network. Early works programmes include the Paradise
redevelopment starting in January.
Paradise
by bus. Service changes on bus routes 82, 83, 87 and
89 will be in operation from January 5 to enable the start of the Paradise
redevelopment works.
Christmas
waste collection reminder for Birmingham.
Residents in Birmingham are being reminded of this year’s
Christmas waste collection arrangements with just a week until the festivities
begin.

Sign up by 31 Dec 2014 to save £5 off the annual price of £35.
Photo
competition for Ladywood and Handsworth. The MyNeighbourhood
(MyN) project, together with Birmingham City Council, is organising a
photography competition aimed at identifying the best picture of the Ladywood
and Handsworth neighbourhoods.
