Birmingham Literature Festival: 2 – 11 October at the Library of Birmingham features events, activities and performances of literature from a stellar line-up of writers, speakers and producers.

Birmingham Museums: What’s on at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and Community museums.

Still time to sign up for the Bupa Great Birmingham Run on 19 October which also feature a Junior and Mini event too, for youngsters aged 3-16 years of age.

mac birmingham and The Drum welcome Afrovibes to Birmingham from Mon 20 – Sat 25 Oct, a festival  that celebrates the finest South African contemporary theatre, music and dance.

The Birmingham Comedy Festival returns 3 - 12 October at venues across Birmingham.

The Fierce Festival returns 2 - 12 October with a programme that embraces theatre, dance, music, installations, activism, digital practices and parties. Fierce reimagines the city with performances in out-of-the-ordinary spaces.

B2B Antiques and Vintage Bazaar is back at the Custard Factory on 18 October. Browse up to 100 stalls selling a vast variety of unique vintage, upcycled and collectible items, plus live music on the lake and a pop up vintage tea shop.

The Conservative Party Conference comes to Birmingham, 28 September – 1 October: Local traffic restrictions will be in place around the ICC and Broad Street until 3 October. 

Flu vaccine available for children. In the autumn/winter of 2014/2015 the annual nasal spray flu vaccine will be available for all children aged two, three and four years old as part of the NHS childhood vaccination programme.

Consultation on Cycle Routes in North and East Birmingham. Birmingham Cycle Revolution will be consulting on cycling improvements in the north and east of the city from 29 September, including Lichfield Road and A47.

Birmingham gives approval for five new leisure centres. Work to transform the provision of sports facilities across the city – including five brand new leisure centres was approved by Cabinet on 15 September.

Eyes and Ears 2014 campaign - Suspect It?  Report It. Birmingham Safeguarding Adults Board has launched this year’s campaign to raise awareness of how to report any suspicions of financial abuse of at risk adults. 

Cycle with Style Week. Birmingham Cycle Revolution is encouraging city fashionistas to get on their bikes by declaring 13 to 17 October ‘Cycle With Style Week’! Competitions and tips on how to look stylish whilst cycling will be shared throughout the week on the BCR Facebook.  

Childhood obesity and activity scheme expanded. With health leaders across the country calling for an emergency childhood obesity taskforce, Birmingham City Council is expanding a pioneering initiative tackling the issues of obesity and physical inactivity in pre-school children.

Important changes to household recycling and rubbish collection service in the Hodge Hill, Hall Green and Yardley districts of Birmingham.
