City News & Information
Cllr John Clancy has been elected as the new leader of
the Labour group. There will be a formal vote for the new council leader at the
Full Council meeting on December 1. In the meantime, the Labour Party has
issued the following news
statement from Cllr Clancy.
BIIP, which monitors how Birmingham City Council
is delivering its Organisational Improvement Plan, will hold a
third public meeting on 14 December. Register
to attend and find out all the details. Can’t attend? Watch the meeting live instead.
Talk
to us about our budget plans for 2016 and beyond. There are many ways to have a
say when proposals are launched on 9 December. You can sign up for one of
our public meetings now.
From
1 December, you can buy or renew your garden waste service
for 2016. Get a £5 early bird discount if you sign up in December, bringing
your annual subscription down to just £30.
There
won’t be any refuse or recycling collections
on Friday 25 December or Monday 28 December. If your usual collections fall on
these days, find out when your next collections will be

The Government
has pledged an additional £40 million a year worth of investment to our region
for the next 30 years for transport, homes, skills and the creation of more
than half a million jobs through the emerging West
Midlands Combined Authority.

Birmingham’s New
Alexandra Theatre offers an alternative to the Christmas Panto with a
brand new production of the smash hit Hairspray.
Based on the 1988 film by cult filmmaker John Waters, Hairspray originally
opened to rave reviews on Broadway in 2002 and subsequently won eight Tony
Awards. Win a pair of tickets for 14 December.
