With a packed programme of events, activities,
attractions and openings, September is an amazing time to be in Birmingham. In
fact, with so much crammed in – including the reopening of New Street Station
and glittering launch of Grand
Central – it’s being dubbed ‘Super September’! Don’t miss…

Tenth
Moseley Folk Festival, 4 - 6 September, Moseley Park. Celebrating ten years and set
to feature artists including The Monkees, Idlewild, Anna Calvi and The
Unthanks.

Heritage Week, 10 - 17 September,
citywide. Fascinating events, exhibitions, talks and tours citywide
that provide a wonderful insight into the diversity of the city’s culture.

BikeFest, 13 September,
Eastside Park. Free day out for all the family with activities and
performances that will amaze and excite children and adults alike.

Rugby
World Cup Fanzone, 18 - 27 September, Eastside Park. Follow
the games on the day – and relive the highlights – whilst enjoying the
festival atmosphere of one of the biggest sporting events in the world.

Birmingham
Chilli Festival, Brindleyplace, 19
September. Now in its 5th year and featuring another packed schedule
of live music and street performances.

Birmingham Weekender, 25 - 27 September.
Free arts weekend for all the family.

Style Birmingham Live 2015. 26 - 27 September. Hosted by TV presenter,
Mark Wright, the city’s fashion and shopping event of the year.
Getting there! Birmingham is well-served by
train, tram and bus services – and you could consider walking or cycling. If
you do drive in, think about car-sharing, or staggering your journey to avoid
peak times.

of Birmingham 10k & 5k Fun Run. 6 September, Sutton Park.
Aimed at all abilities. Whether you're a fun runner or an experienced runner, you can choose which distance is right for you. The event guarantees to be a
fantastic challenge and a great day out!
Ikon, in collaboration
with Birmingham
Contemporary Music Group, presents Sculpture 7 on 6
September. In this free performance five artists consider events as sculpture.
Eastside Projects the
free public gallery imagined and organized by artists, in partnership with
Birmingham City University, re-opens 19 September.
Birmingham Royal Ballet: Swan Lake.
Birmingham Hippodrome, 28 September - 7 October. This romantic fable of
ill-fated passion, powerfully illuminated by Tchaikovsky’s legendary score, has
bewitched viewers for generations - an unforgettable experience.

Purnell’s Friday Night Kitchen with Friends 2 October.
Michelin-starred chef Glynn Purnell and Masterchef judge Gregg Wallace join
forces to serve up a live culinary treat to raise funds for Cure Leukaemia.
Fierce Festival 7 - 11 October,
various venues: a distinctive programme of live art, performance and projects
across Birmingham. Fierce works with local, national and international artists
to challenge expectations and presumptions.
Birmingham Literary
Festival 8 - 17 October. Major literary names, including Allan Ahlberg, Mark Billingham
and former US Poet Laureate Rita Dove, join broadcaster Stuart Maconie and
musicians-turned-writers Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt (Everything But The Girl).
Morrisons Great Birmingham Run. 18
October. The second biggest half marathon in the UK. The route features many
iconic landmarks including Cadbury World and Edgbaston Cricket Ground, which
are brought to life by motivating sounds of live music from bands ‘on the
run’!

Improvement Panel (BIIP) to stage second public meeting. BIIP, which monitors
Birmingham City Council’s delivery of the Organisational Improvement Plan, will hold
its second public meeting on 11 September. Find out more and register now. Can’t attend? -
