What do you expect from audit?

How relevant are our audits? Do we need to change the way we do things? Could the work we produce be different? Audit Scotland needs your help to answer these questions.

Through our Expectations of Audit project we are reviewing what we do and how we do it.  With public service reform underway and tight finances for the foreseeable future, we need to be sure that our audits are relevant, timely, add value and are delivered in the most effective and efficient way.

We are currently surveying our external stakeholders and we would like to hear what you think.

Your views are very important. You have a unique perspective and insight about how public sector audit works in real life so we would be grateful if you could take a couple of minutes to complete the survey.  Keep an eye on your inbox for an email from us which will contain a link to the survey.  The closing date is Tuesday 3 December.

Douglas Sinclair to take up post on Audit Scotland board

Douglas Sinclair

Douglas Sinclair CBE has been appointed as the new chair of the Accounts Commission.

That means he will automatically take up a seat on Audit Scotland’s board when he takes up his role in December.

Audit Scotland’s board is made up of, the organisation’s two major stakeholders, the Auditor General for Scotland and the chair of the Accounts Commission as well as three non-executive members.  The board’s chair, Ronnie Cleland, is one of these non-executive members.

Douglas is currently the deputy chair of the Accounts Commission, is the chair of the Consumer Futures Scotland committee and had a long career in local government. He takes over from John Baillie, whose term finishes at the end of November.

John Baillie has been a member of the Commission since 2003 and chair since 2007.
