Strengthening Families with In-Prison Programs

A Day with Dad

MALACHI DADS is a program in response to the heart felt cry of incarcerated fathers who sought to be equipped to reach and to disciple their children in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  The world-wide children’s ministry, AWANA, joined hands with prisons to help create the platform.  Volunteers are working hard to bring the Malachi Dads program to Texas. Southeast TX Area 67 Alcoholics Anonymous Correctional Facilities Conference

 On September 13th-15th more than 229 people gathered at the Crowne Plaza Houston Suites to fellowship and to learn more about the need for Alcoholics Anonymous programs and support groups in the TDCJ prison system.  The conference included a TDCJ Volunteer Training and a Correctional Facilities Professional Panel where several agency representatives participated.  Some of the TDCJ representatives included RPD Director Madeline Ortiz, Warden Hudspeth, Warden Black and RPD Manager Pam Carey.  Shown in the photo is TDCJ Volunteer Dolores R. who has served as a volunteer for almost 30 years and was crowned "Queen of Ramsey".
