Whether you’re already into archery or just curious, we have the resources to help you expand your skills. If you’re 12 years of age or older, take a Bowhunter Education course and work on:
- mastering new archery techniques and learn the anatomy and behavior of the game
- becoming adept at scouting, tracking and recovering game
- developing a high degree of stealth, perseverance, patience and effort
If you’ve got a young potential archer in your midst, there’s an Archery in the Schools Program to develop children’s skills. Archery is the rare sport where boys and girls – including those with special needs – can compete on equal ground.
Other resources include a list of archery associations and info on the Six Stages of Hunter Development - read it and find out which stage you’re at, or want to reach.

Built exclusively for Texas hunters, the official My Texas Hunt Harvest app will keep track of your hunting season successes and allows you to report harvested game in real-time . It also helps Texas Parks & Wildlife biologists manage game populations so we can keep hunting top-notch in Texas. It’s easy to use, works even if there is no internet connection, and the app is available for both Android and iOS devices.
Bowhunters and archers can use it to:
- Log your harvested game animals
- View your harvest history on your smartphone or tablet
- Voluntarily report harvests for all game species (to aid in wildlife management)
