METRO local bus riders shared their experience on the New Bus Network today with METRO's Chairman, the president/CEO and board members as they took a spin on two of the improved routes.
"This is going to transform the Houston region," said METRO Chairman Gilbert Garcia. "We've been working for two years to get here and today is the day."
"We'll continue to do a quality assurance check to make sure we provide the best possible service for our customers," said METRO President and CEO Tom Lambert.
METRO crews worked through Saturday to update signs at more than 9,000 bus stops that will serve 78 routes in the new local bus network.
Key features of the New Bus Network include 22 bus routes scheduled to run every 15 minutes or better at least 18 hours a day, seven days a week on major streets, serving neighborhoods, jobs, education, medical care and retail.
