City provides options for citizen feedback on proposed budget

Virtual and telephone town hall meetings are among the choices

Dallas – The City of Dallas will provide several options for citizens to provide feedback on the City Manager’s proposed FY 2014-15 Budget. In addition to Town Hall meetings, residents and all interested parties can participate by phone or via their home computer or tablet.

“It’s vital that our residents, business owners and stakeholders have the opportunity to engage with their city government,” said City Manager A.C. Gonzalez. “We understand that attending an evening meeting in person may not be possible for everyone, so we are providing more options that will allow us to hear from a whole new audience.”

Here’s how citizens can participate in the FY 2014-2015 Budget Town Hall meetings:

1) Attend one of the meetings in your district in person

2) Participate in a virtual meeting using your computer or tablet

3) Participate in a Town Hall Budget Meeting via telephone

Meetings will also be streamed live on the web and participants can feed questions to a moderator by phone or the web. Councilmembers, the City Manager’s Office and department representatives will be available to answer questions. Thousands of residents will receive an outbound telephone call a few minutes prior to the scheduled Telephone Town Hall meetings. Others that want to participate can call in to the meeting at designated days and times.

To participate in a telephone discussion on the dates and times listed, citizens should call toll free: (888) 400-1932. Phone meetings will also be available in Spanish by calling (888) 400-9342.

Virtual Town Hall Meetings can be viewed at www.dallascitynewsroom.com and www.dallascityhall.com by clicking on the Budget Town Hall banner then on the web-based meeting link.
