Omnitracs moving headquarters to downtown Dallas 

Omnitracs, a fleet management solutions provider, has announced plans to relocate its headquarters to the KPMG Centre in downtown Dallas. The new headquarters will bring 450 jobs in high-paying fields that include research and development, engineering, and finance. Source: Dallas Business Journal, July 18, 2014.

Active Network to relocate headquarters to downtown Dallas

Active Network, a provider of activity management data solutions, has announced plans to relocate its headquarters to downtown Dallas. The move, scheduled to take place over the next year, is expected to bring 1,000 jobs. Source: Dallas Business Journal, July 7, 2014.

Historic Dallas Building Gets New Home 

The Liberty State Bank Building, the oldest commercial building in Dallas, has been relocated to 600 S. Harwood St. The move allows for improvements to be made along Cesar Chavez Boulevard while preserving a Dallas landmark. Trammell S. Crow’s $4.4M gift is biggest in history of Dallas' Paul Quinn College

Paul Quinn College has received their largest donation in school history from Dallas philanthropist Trammell S. Crow. The $4.4 million donation will be used for the construction of a new residential facility and for scholarships. Source: Dallas Morning News, June 23, 2014.

New industrial park coming in southwest Dallas

International industrial developer Prologis has purchased 94 acres in southwest Dallas and plans to build approximately 1.6 million square feet of warehouse space at the Mountain Creek Business Park. Source: Dallas Morning News, June 25, 2014.

Alamo Drafthouse to build new location in the Cedars

Alamo Drafthouse will soon break ground on a new eight screen, two-story multiplex in the Cedars. Projected to open in mid-2015, the site will be the first movie theater serving the downtown Dallas area in 15 years. Source: Dallas Morning News, July 7, 2014.

East Dallas church being redeveloped into new prep school

The former campus of St. Luke Methodist Church has been purchased by Reconciliation Academy, which plans to renovate the 96,000-square-foot property into a preparatory school. Study: Dallas a top city in the nation for women in technology field

D/FW Airport’s DART station to open in August

The August opening of a Dallas Area Rapid Transit light-rail station at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is the final step in creating a direct public transit connection between downtown Dallas and one of the busiest international airports in the world. Dallas area home prices increase 1.2% in Q1 2014

FHFA HPI June 2014
  • The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) House Price Index (HPI) measures home sales prices of mortgages sold to, or guaranteed by, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
  • Dallas area home prices increased 1.2 percent in the first quarter of 2014. Over the same time period U.S. house prices rose 1.3 percent.
  • The Charleston, SC area experienced the highest increase at 10.7 percent. New Orleans experienced the weakest price change, declining 2.6 percent.
  • Positive appreciation was recorded in 71 of the 100 MSAs.
