Omni Hotels Experiences Major Growth, Relocates Headquarters to Dallas

With a number of key purchases in the last six weeks, the Omni Hotel headquarters is expanding. The offices will relocate from Las Colinas in Irving to 4001 Maple St in Dallas and hire about 30 new staff.

Dallas' First Trader Joe’s Open on Lower Greenville

Trader Joe’s is the the latest to join a handful of new grocers recently opening in East Dallas. Eight grocery stores have opened in the area since 2009.

Dallas is the Top City for Finance Jobs

Dallas ranks as the best region for Finance Jobs in the recent report by Accounting Principals. The list was determined by the overall economic environment as well as internal data from Accounting Principals branches, taking into account the volume of job openings in the past six months.

Dallas-Based Ziosk Bringing Technology to Restaurant Tables

Ziosk is bringing tech to the table for restaurant customers. Its Wifi-based Ziosk tablet allows diners to order, view the menu, play games, and even pay all at their table. The concept came from students in a Southern Methodist University MBA class who were challenged to develop ready-for-market products.

Borden Dairy Expanding South Dallas Plant, Adding 100 Jobs

A $5 million expansion and upgrade is coming to the Borden Dairy Co facility on S. Lamar St. The Dallas City Council approved a 7 year, 75 percent tax abatement for the investment and the 100 new jobs that are expected to accompany it. The abatement is contingent on the investment and job creation.

Dallas-based BAF Manufacturing Ford’s Compressed Natural Gas F-150

Dallas-based BAF will play a major role in the manufacture of Ford’s new F-150 which will run on compressed natural gas (CNG). BAF installs the parts necessary to enable the truck to run on CNG.

New Apartments to start in Dallas West End Later This Year

A new 267-unit rental community is planned to be built on the vacant property at Ross Ave and Houston St. Right on the edge of the historic West End district, designs for the new building match the characteristic architecture of the neighborhood.

Which Wich Expands Downtown Headquarters

Dallas-based Which Wich Superior Sandwiches will be keeping its headquarters downtown. It will move from its current downtown office at 1310 Elm St by the end of this summer, to 14,000 square feet on two full floors of the Adolphus Tower at 1412 Main St.

Construction Starts on Preston Hollow Village in North Dallas

It’s been five years since more than 40 acres of aging apartments were razed on this site at Walnut Hill and Central Expressway. New owners have now begun construction on what is to be called Preston Hollow Village. Trader Joe’s grocery store and Frost Bank will anchor the development’s retail and office components. The development will also include restaurants, shops, and apartments with tree-lined streets and patios as part of the vision.

Fresh Market Coming to Lakewood and Turtle Creek

Dallas-based Lincoln Property Co. has secured specialty grocer The Fresh Market for two of its Dallas properties. The first store in DFW will open in Turtle Creek Village shopping center at 3888 Oak Lawn Ave, followed closely by its second store at the soon-to-be redeveloped Arboretum Village shopping center near Gaston and Garland roads.

City  Household Employment Rises

Employment July 2013

  • The count of employed Dallas residents increased to 555,920.
  • This is an over 2,386-worker increase from last month’s revised resident employment level of 553,534
