New tower in the works on Central Expressway near Knox Street

Nashville-based Southern Land Co. is planning to build a 19-story apartment tower on North Central Expressway at Oliver Avenue in Dallas. The development, designed by Dallas–based GDA Architects, will replace an existing office building. Source: Dallas Morning News, March 30, 2015.

The Shops at Park Lane adds Forever 21 concept, J. Crew Factory stores

Construction was completed in April on a 5-story office building and more than 26,000 SF of additional retail space at The Shops at Park Lane in Dallas. New tenants will include Starbucks, Zoës Kitchen, F21 Red, and a J. Crew Factory store. Source: Dallas Morning News, April 2, 2015.

Stitch Fix to open U.S. distribution hub in Dallas; to hire up to 500

San-Francisco-based online personal shopping service Stitch Fix plans to open a 316,000 SF distribution center on N. Cockrell Hill Road in Dallas. The facility will open in June and is expected to employ up to 500 people. Source: Dallas Business Journal, April 3, 2015.

Amazon planning new center to employ at least 500 people in southern Dallas

Online retailer Amazon.com is planning to open a 500,000 SF distribution center at the northwest corner of I-20 and I-45 in southern Dallas. The facility is expected to employ up to 900 people. Source: Dallas Morning News, April 13, 2015.

Oak Cliff Welcomes Back Streetcars - After A Nearly 60-Year Absence

Streetcar service returned to Oak Cliff in April as the new streetcar line made its inaugural trip from Union Station downtown to Methodist Hospital. Future plans include connections to the Bishop Arts District, the Omni Hotel downtown, and the McKinney Avenue Trolley line in Uptown. Source: KERA, April 13, 2015.

David Weekley will build homes in West Dallas near Trinity Groves

Houston-based developer David Weekley Homes is planning to build a community of three-story single-family homes in West Dallas near Trinity Groves. The planned development will add to the company’s existing Dallas presence, with additional projects underway in East Dallas, Oak Lawn, and The Cedars. The Bomb Factory Re-Opens To Long Lines, Positive Reviews

The Bomb Factory, a 50,000 SF concert venue on Canton Street, opened last month in Deep Ellum. The venue is one of the largest concert halls in Dallas, accommodating crowds of more than 4,000 people. Source: CBSDFW.com, March 27, 2015.

Dallas Attractions Are Loved to Pieces, Leaving Much Wear and Tear

International cinema chain will open first Texas location at Victory Park

Dallas area home prices increase 1.1% in Q4 2014

  • The Federal Housing Finance Agency House Price Index is calculated using home sales price information gathered from mortgages sold to or guaranteed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
  • Dallas area home prices increased 1.1 percent in the fourth quarter of 2014. Over the same time period U.S. home prices also rose 0.8 percent.
  • Nationally, the Sherman-Denison, TX area experienced the largest gain, increasing 9.9 percent. The Watertown-Fort Drum, NY area experienced the largest price decrease, declining 8.3 percent.
