Join us for Saint Paul’s 29th Annual Citywide Spring Cleanup

(Saint Paul) – The Saint Paul Parks and Recreation Department would like to extend an invitation to our community members to participate in the 2015 Citywide Spring Cleanup. The event will take place on the morning of April 18th from 9:00 – 11:30 a.m. Individuals of all ages are encouraged to attend to help us kick off this spring season.

The Citywide Spring Cleanup is an event designed to provide our community members with an organized foundation from which they can come together and work towards a common goal: the beautification of our parks and neighborhoods. So grab your friends and family and let’s clean up our outdoors!

Cindy Dorn, of the Conservation Corps, will be hosting a site at Harriet Island. She is excited about the event and advocates that “The Saint Paul Citywide Cleanup not only brings together residents to improve and take pride in our neighborhoods and shared green spaces; it is also an opportunity for teenagers in our afterschool program, Youth Outdoors, to gain valuable leadership skills.”

To make the Cleanup an even bigger success this year we have updated its format. We now have six cleanup sites located throughout prominent areas of our city that are hosted by various local organizations. These sites will be open from 9 – 11:30 a.m. so volunteers can drop by anytime to register and pick up their equipment. The sites and site hosts are as follows:

  • Harriet Island – Conservation Corps of Minnesota
  • Hamline Park – Friends of Hamline Park
  • Swede Hollow Park – Mississippi Market
  • Como Park Pavilion – Right Track, Genesys Works, Como Park High School Academy of Finance
  • Phalen Picnic Pavilion – Saint Paul Natural Resources
  • Highland Picnic Pavilion – College Nannies & Tutors

Although pre-registration is not required, residents interested in volunteering are encouraged to do so at www.stpaul.gov/parks/environment. You will also find additional information about this event and others like it.
