They’re here! The first of 55 next-generation buses hit the streets this morning. We’re phasing them in gradually, with several new buses rolling out each week. (Five of them, including the one spotted on 82nd Avenue above, left our Powell garage for this morning’s commute.) The new buses have air conditioning, easy-to-clean vinyl seats, a brighter interior, automatic snow chains and a variety of other convenience and safety features for both riders and operators. Initially, the new buses are running on Line 9-Powell Blvd and Line 72-Killingsworth/82nd Ave. As new buses are added to the fleet in the coming weeks, they’ll run on other lines.
