K-12 Funding on Monday

On Monday we will see a $7.255 billion K-12 budget on the Senate floor. This budget will mean $3 million in cuts for the Bend-LaPine School District and at least $1.5 million shortfall for the Redmond School District.

Please contact me with your thoughts on the $7.235 billion education budget: sen.timknopp@state.or.us

Protecting our children

school-group

This last Thursday I had the opportunity to testify in front of the Senate Committee on Education in favor of Erin's Law (SB 856). Erin's Law would establish instructional prevention programs in public schools to educate our kids about how to identify child sexual abuse. It has been adopted by several states already and I would like to see Oregon also implement programs that help protect our kids.

Here I am with 4th grade students from Morning Star Christian School.
