Cracking Down on Medicaid Fraud

Vid

Last week I testified on Senate Bill 753, which would push reforms to Oregon’s programs and methodology to improve Medicaid payment integrity. If passed, SB 753 could potentially save the State of Oregon millions of dollars each year with minimal costs to implement this element to the program. SB 753 extends the latest in technology fraud fighting to preventing fraud before it happens, by reducing both improper payments, cost, and time involved with traditional “pay and chase” recovery.

With Medicaid fraud becoming increasingly more complex, it is critical that Oregon updates and improves its policies to remain vigilant. SB 753 adds the technologies necessary to assure the long term solvency of Medicaid by ensuring that these critical programs will be available for those that are truly in need of help.

Along with Senator Knopp, SB 753 has the bi-partisan support of Senate Health Care Committee Members, Senator Jackie Winters (R-Salem), and Doctor Alan Bates (D-Ashland). Currently the bill is in Senate Health Care Committee and is set to have a work session Monday, April 1st at 3pm.

Jobs Bills - Getting Central Oregon Working Again

Once again, Central Oregon remains highest in unemployment statewide, this is unacceptable. I have stated in the past the importance for Salem to create an environment where job growth is possible. Therefore this legislative session I have proposed a number of bills to allow Salem to step back and let small businesses thrive.

Follow this link to get a full description of all the bills.

All of these bills have bi-partisan support and would help create an environment to help spur job growth and yet we haven't received a hearing for any of these job growth bills. I have been working hard on building support on these bills and will work had to get them hearings.

Oregon school boards go big on PERS: Agenda 2013

Gov. John Kitzhaber's proposed budget dominated the PERS-reform discussion for months. It was bold, promising to save schools and local and state governments more than $800 million during the 2013-15 biennium. It was clever, linking reform directly to classroom funding. And for a long time, it was the only game in town.

Lawmaker sees yearly savings in the millions
State Sen. Tim Knopp, R-Bend, said Monday he is set to push reforms to Oregon’s programs and methodology to improve Medicaid payment integrity.
If passed, Senate Bill 753 could potentially save the State of Oregon millions of dollars each year, with minimal costs to implement this element to the program, Knopp said.
