Girder Installation Brings Bend Parkway Traffic Control Changes

BEND –  Major construction at the US 97 (Parkway) Murphy Road project will bring traffic control changes there early next week.

ODOT and its contractor on the project, Hamilton Construction of Springfield, will be installing girders at the new Murphy Road Bridge on Tuesday night and Thursday night next week. To minimize disruption to traffic, the girders will be installed over the northbound lanes of the Parkway on Tuesday night and over the southbound lanes on Thursday night. However, lane changes will be necessary beginning Monday to accommodate this element of the project as follows:

The US 97 Murphy Road project is a multi-year construction effort that will increase safety on the Bend Parkway and improve east-west connectivity in the City of Bend.  It is a joint $27 million dollar project that is funded by the Jobs and Transportation Act, passed by the Oregon Legislature in 2009.

In addition to the Murphy Road Bridge, the project includes an overpass at the intersection of 3rd Street and the Parkway, will eliminate a stop light at that intersection, and eliminate a signal at US 97 (Parkway) and Pinebrook.
