ROAD RALLIES PREPARE STUDENTS FOR THE ROAD AHEAD

Who: Oklahoma State Department of Education

What: The Oklahoma State Department of Education will host a road-trip-themed rally called "For the Road Ahead." This community engagement event will explain the Oklahoma Academic Standards and provide parents, community members and business partners with information about the Oklahoma Academic Standards and get them geared up for the 2013-2014 school year. 

Participating Stakeholders at the event include:

Ms. Bren Smith, Putnam City Schools Board of Education

Dr. Janet Barresi, State Superintendent of Public Instruction

Dr. Fred Rhodes, Superintendent, Putnam City Schools

Ms. Barbara Crump, Principal, Central Elementary School

Ms. Jeni James, Putnam City Schools Teacher of the Year

Ms. Chantal Morris, President, Putnam City Schools PTA Council

Ms. Jill McCartney, President/CEO, Northwest Chamber

Background: For the Road Ahead is a community outreach effort designed to educate all Oklahoma stakeholders about the Oklahoma Academic Standards. These standards set students on the road to being  college-, career- and citizen-ready and were adopted and developed specifically for Oklahoma PreK-12 students.
