When was the last time you started a query or report, only to have to leave it running overnight -- or even over the weekend -- in order for it to finish? One of the biggest goals of the upgrade is to increase and improve performance of the overall system so that this is no longer necessary. |
The PeopleSoft 9.2 Financials Upgrade project will do this in a couple of ways. The first component that makes this possible is something that most of us, as users, never see. It is all the tech-magic that happens when a company reworks software and releases an upgraded version. According to one of the leads on the project, Oracle, the company that produces PeopleSoft, listened to its users and made fundamental changes to the software that will result in increased performance.
The second component that will make things move faster is enhanced configuration. By bundling and grouping certain tasks together, the new version of the software allows processes to run faster. There are some processes that will be reduced from over 30 steps to just one -- all through configuration changes.
