The mission of the Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities Agency is to ensure individuals with disabilities achieve quality employment, independence and disability determination outcomes.

What's Inside:

Employment First Exceeding Its Goals

EF Program to Date Chart 07312015

We have seen tremendous success with our Employment First Partnership with the Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD). Through Employment First, DODD and OOD partnered to embed 25 vocational rehabilitation counselors in facility-based programs throughout the state to provide vocational counseling and employment services to help individuals transition to competitive, integrated employment.

Since the program’s inception there have been 2,234 applicants and 1,801 individual employment plans (IEPs) written, which has resulted in 364 individual job placements (226 successful rehabs, 90 days of stable employment, and 138 individuals in employed status, working but have yet to reach the 90 day criteria).

We will continue to provide services through the Employment First Partnership and look forward to the ongoing success of the program.

From Toledo to Cincinnati, from Cleveland to Columbus, Ohioans celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) throughout July.  With the marking of the formal anniversary on July 26th, we bring to a close this month long focus on this significant milestone.

I wanted to say thank you to everyone who participated in these celebrations and helped highlight the ADA’s impact and continuing relevance in the lives of our friends, families, communities and state.  I hope we will continue to strive to bring the spirit of the ADA with us in our work every day and accomplish even more in the next twenty-five years.
