Snow and Ice Update

December 11, 2017

ODOT snowplow

The Ohio Department of Transportation is already fully staffed around the clock for incoming winter weather. Approximately 80 trucks are out across Cuyahoga, Lake and Geauga counties to patrol, pretreat, salt and plow as needed.

The National Weather Service predicts that snow will develop across the region this evening and continue through Wednesday. A transition to Lake Effect snow will take place Tuesday which means that periods of heavy snowfall and drifting should be expected.

Motorists should stay alert for quickly changing conditions. Lake Effect snow can produce large amounts of accumulation in only a few hours. Wet pavement and low visibility can create driving hazards. Remember our best advice: In ice and snow, take it slow!
