WI/PWL Water Quality Assessment Updates

Updates of water quality assessment information for individual WI/PWL waterbodies are announced through MakingWaves. Most recently, WI/PWL Fact Sheets for the following waterbodies have been revised/updated: 

• Waters of the Napeague Bay/Block Island Sound Watershed, Atlantic/Long Island Basin.

Comments on these (or other) assessments are welcome via email.

In addition, the WI/PWL webpages are being modified to make it easier to find Fact Sheets for specific waterbodies of interest. These changes have now been completed for the Saint Lawrence River Basin.

2016 Final Intended Use Plans Now Available

The Federal Fiscal Year 2016 Final Intended Use Plans (IUPs) for the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) and the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) are now available on Environmental Facilities Corporation’s webpage. The final IUPs explain the CWSRF and DWSRF programs and list projects eligible for CWSRF and DWSRF financing between October 1, 2015 and September 30, 2016.

Complete Financing Applications for all projects pursuing CWSRF or DWSRF financial assistance are due no later than March 1, 2016.

Funding Grant Opportunities

Deadline for Mohawk River Basin Grants Extended

The deadline to apply for the Mohawk River Basin grants has been extended to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 18, 2015.

This grant opportunity, announced on October 7, is available to municipalities and not-for-profit corporations, which can apply for $150,000 in available grant funds to implement the Mohawk River Basin Action Agenda. Grant awards ranging from $15,000 up to a maximum of $50,000 will be awarded for eligible projects.

Grant applications are available online at the New York State Grants Gateway,  Applicants must be registered in the Gateway in order to apply.

Reminder: Application Deadline for Hudson River Estuary Program Grants

Applications for the Hudson River Estuary Local Stewardship Planning and River Access and River Education grants must be submitted in the Grants Gateway by 3:00 PM on December 16, 2015.  Approximately $2,200,000 is available.  Visit the Hudson River Estuary Program’s website for more details. 

$2 Million in Grants Available to Combat Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS)

DEC has announced that $2 million in grants are available to organizations for projects to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species in New York’s waterways. The funding is being provided by the New York State Environmental Protection Fund (EPF).  Grant amounts will range from a minimum of $25,000 up to a maximum of $100,000 with a required 25-percent match.  For more information about this grant program, go to the Aquatic Invasive Species Spread Prevention Program webpage. 

The deadline for grant applications is January 29, 2016. DEC anticipates announcing grant awards in April 2016. Applicants can apply for the grant through the Consolidated Funding Application website.
