Request for Proposals for Design of Sustainable Shorelines at Nutten Hook

The New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission (NEIWPCC), in partnership with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s (NYS DEC) Hudson River Estuary Program and the Hudson River National Estuarine Research Reserve are soliciting proposals to design a “Sustainable Shorelines” demonstration project at the Nutten Hook site on the Hudson River in the town of Stuyvesant, NY. The goal of this project is to design ecologically-enhanced, engineered shoreline treatment(s) that resist erosion, enhance the recreational use of the site by the public, and improve the habitat value of the site for fish and wildlife species of the Hudson River Estuary. The project design will address present day conditions as well as account for projected increases in frequency of extreme storms and sea-level rise.

Approximately $40,000 is available to support this project. Proposals are due November 13, 2015 at 12 noon. Request for Water Resources Research Grant Program Applications

Ulster County Rain GardenApplications are now being accepted from New York State’s higher education faculty and student community for the New York Water Resources Institute / Hudson River Estuary Program 2016 Water Resources Research Grant Program. Approximately $130,000 is available for innovative watershed research, management, and outreach activities in New York. Up to $20,000 is available per project. Small grants are available for undergraduate and graduate student researchers. Projects throughout New York are eligible, but proposals related to the Hudson River Estuary region are particularly encouraged.
