City offices will be closed on Thursday, November 28
and Friday, November 29 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
On Thursday, November 28, the
Charlotte Area Transit System will operate on its Sunday Schedule.
Solid Waste Services will not provide Curb It!
collection services - garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulky waste - on Thursday, November 28. Residents who normally receive service
on Thursday will be serviced on Friday, November 29. Residents who normally
receive service on Friday will be serviced on Saturday, November 30.
Look for Solid Waste Services (SWS) vehicles in the
2013 Novant Health Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, November 28 at 9:30
a.m. SWS will have the recycling mascot, Recycle It! truck, Prep It! truck and
a Power2 Charlotte vehicle participating.
Holiday recycling information and candy will be
distributed to attendees.

The City’s on-street parking program is conducting a 90-day smart meter pilot study. The study will take place on Brevard Street between Stonewall and Third Streets.
Standard
parking rates apply to the spaces, and there is no extra fee to the customer
for using a credit card. For more information about the study and to participate

The Charlotte Area Transit Systems (CATS) and the
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Department are hosting public meetings on the
LYNX Blue Line Extension (BLE) light rail project.

Both meetings will provide an opportunity to have your
BLE questions answered. The December 10 meeting includes a workshop to collect
input on the three University City transit station area plans and to share
information about the supporting infrastructure program for the BLE.

remember to properly dispose of all leftover foods - including grease and oils - by placing them in a lidded container in the trash. Grease related
sanitary sewer overflows are a major issue for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utility
crews each year, and are preventable.

about Grease Disposal
- Hot water only pushes the sticky food
further down the line to clog the public system.
- Even if you don’t cook with oils or grease,
you still can have a grease problem. Foods such as bacon and poultry create
their own grease while cooking, and this grease still needs proper disposal.
