Are you ready to enjoy your favorite family recipes
this holiday season? If so, once you’re done cooking those delicious dishes,
remember to properly dispose of all leftover foods - including grease and oils - by placing them in a lidded container in the trash. Grease related
sanitary sewer overflows are a major issue for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utility
crews each year, and are preventable.
Facts
about Grease Disposal
- Hot water only pushes the sticky food
further down the line to clog the public system.
- Even if you don’t cook with oils or grease,
you still can have a grease problem. Foods such as bacon and poultry create
their own grease while cooking, and this grease still needs proper disposal.
For more information about how to properly dispose of
grease, visit the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utility Department page.
