One Minneapolis Fund Seeks Project Proposals

The One Minneapolis Fund requests proposals for projects that support diverse leadership development and community engagement in the City of Minneapolis. Grants of up to $25,000 may be awarded. Proposals are due April 6. Learn more >>

Applications Now Accepted for Clean Energy Partnership's Energy Vision Advisory Committee

The Energy Vision Advisory Committee (EVAC) will play a critical role in shaping the work plan for the Minneapolis Clean Energy Partnership (CEP). Click here to download an application form. Applications received by Friday, February 20th at 5 pm will be given preference.

Minneapolis Solid Waste customers: Sign up now for 2015-16 organics recycling!

New Environmentally Acceptable Packaging Ordinance for Food and Beverages

The Environmentally Acceptable Packaging Ordinance, effective April 22, 2015, requires all packaging for food and beverages prepared for immediate consumption to be environmentally acceptable. Pending official agenda approval, the Homegrown Minneapolis Food Council will make its annual presentation to the City Council’s Health, Environment, and Community Engagement (HECE) Committee. The presentation will highlight the 2014 work of Homegrown Minneapolis and the Food Council and 2015 plans.

New USDA Report on the Local Food Economy

The USDA recently released a report called "Trends in U.S. Local and Regional Food Systems: A Report to Congress." The report details the latest economic information on local food producers, consumers, and policy, relying on findings from several national surveys and a synthesis of recent literature to assess the current size of and recent trends in local and regional food systems.

Healthy Foods, Healthy Lives Institute Spring 2015 Funding Opportunities

The University of Minnesota Healthy Foods, Healthy Lives (HFHL) Institute is offering Spring 2015 funding opportunities in three areas: (1) University (faculty) Research, (2) Graduate and Professional Student Research, and (3) Community-University Planning. GoodGreens Grant: USDA Announces Over $9 Million to Support Socially Disadvantaged Farmers and Ranchers and Veteran Farmers and Ranchers

This funding will enable community-based organizations, eligible higher education institutions and tribal organizations to work directly with these groups to successfully acquire, own and operate farms and ranches and to access all USDA programs and services.

Applications must be submitted through www.grants.gov. More information about the program, including forthcoming grant notice and application deadlines is available at: http://www.outreach.usda.gov/grants/index.htm.
