The City's 2015 Budget
In August, Mayor Betsy Hodges proposed a budget for the City of Minneapolis for 2015, which leads to a City Council process to review and approve a final budget in December. The proposed $1.2 billion operating and capital budget for 2015 includes a 2.4% increase in the City’s portion of the 2015 property tax levy compared to 2014. Of the City’s total budget, only about 20% is funded through property taxes.
Depending on your property value, Minneapolis’ portion of your property tax may go up or down from 2014 to 2015 even though the City’s overall property tax levy is proposed to increase.
