Council Member's Message
As a result of the 2012 redistricting process, precinct boundaries were redrawn across the City. This led to the reduction of a precinct in Ward One and changes to polling places. Residents of the Columbia Park neighborhood who had previously voted at Columbia Manor were switched to RiverVillage in the Marshall Terrace neighborhood. The change caused long lines and parking difficulties during the 2012 election.
I am pleased to announce that this unacceptable situation has been addressed. Minneapolis Elections & Voter Services has added one precinct to Ward 1, effective beginning with the August 12, 2014 primary election. Thus residents in the new 1-10 will return to voting at the Columbia Manor polling place, while residents in the 1-1 will remain at RiverVillage. This reconfiguration, which will reduce the registered voter count in the 1-1 by over 1,000 voters, should mitigate long wait times and increase ease of access for voters in both new precincts.
Below you will find maps displaying the precinct boundaries. If you have any questions about which polling place is the correct one for you, please don't hesitate to contact my office at 612-673-2201 or 311, or visit http://vote.minneapolismn.gov/voters/where-to-vote to use the online "Look Up" tool. At this location you'll also find many useful resources such as sample ballots, language support and absentee voter information.
While we're on the topic of voting, please consider becoming an election judge. These paid positions offer an opportunity to provide an important service to our community and learn about the election process. For more information, visit http://vote.minneapolismn.gov/judges/index.htm or contact Jilla Nadimi at email@example.com or 612-673-3780.
If you live within the BLUE line below, your new precinct is 1-10 and your polling place is changed to: Columbia Manor / Golf Club, 3300 Central Ave.
Voters in the remaining precinct 1-1 will continue to vote at RiverVillage (if you live within the BLUE line below).
