National Report Confirms: Solar Jobs are Growing Exponentially

According to The Solar Foundation’s recently-released annual National Solar Jobs Census, the solar industry is experiencing explosive growth across the country, creating thousands of new, highly-skilled jobs nationwide. As of November 2014, the solar industry employs 173,807 workers, representing a growth rate of almost 22 percent over the previous year.

The fifth annual National Solar Jobs Census also found:

Solar employment has grown by 86 percent in the past five years alone

One out of every 78 new jobs created in the U.S. over the past 12 months was created by the solar industry

The solar industry is adding workers at a rate nearly 20 times faster than the overall economy.

Missouri has been an active participant in growing the national solar sector. In November, global solar energy provider Sungevity announced plans to open a new sales and service center in Kansas City, creating 595 new jobs. Last month, Ameren Missouri turned on its O’Fallon Renewable Energy Center, its first solar center and the largest investor-owned utility scale solar facility in the state. And last March, the Butler Solar Energy Farm began generating power for 35 public power utilities in Missouri.
