St. Joseph business presented Flag of Freedom Award for hiring veterans

St. Joe

Lowe's Home Improvement in St. Joseph was recognized on Tuesday for its commitment to hiring veterans under the Show-Me Heroes program as store officials were presented the Flag of Freedom Award.

The Show-Me Heroes program, launched by Gov. Nixon in January 2010, helps connect military veterans with job opportunities when they return home from service. Administered by the Missouri Division of Workforce Development in partnership with the Missouri National Guard, Show-Me Heroes showcases Missouri businesses that appreciate the value that military experience can bring to the workplace. Employers participating in the Show-Me Heroes program sign a pledge to ramp up efforts to reach out to, recruit, and interview veterans for job openings at their business.

To date, 4,073 Missouri employers have taken the Show-Me Heroes pledge, and 7,001 veterans have been hired!

Show your support for Missouri veterans! If you are a Missouri business, click here to take the Show-Me Heroes pledge and join thousands of fellow Show-Me State businesses dedicated to supporting veterans in Missouri!

Every pledge counts - help us reach 5,000 Show-Me Heroes supporting employers!
