Ameren to hold military-focused career fair

The very first Show-Me Heroes Employer Spotlight career event will take place at Fort Leonard Wood on May 20, 2014. Ameren, a St. Louis-based energy company that supports efficiency and renewable energy efforts, will be the spotlight business at this fair, seeking engineers and nuclear security officers.

The Show-Me Heroes Employer Spotlight provides employers the opportunity to present their organization and opportunities for those leaving the military at Fort Leonard Wood or seeking employment in the civilian industry.

“In this case, Ameren has great opportunities for engineers and highly qualified security personnel,” noted Jonathan Barry, Show-Me Heroes Director. “Fort Leonard Wood is home to both. Based on the open positions, Fort Leonard Wood is a natural fit and perfect chance to test the concept.”

The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 20 in Thurman Hall, Bldg. 3203, Room 3035. To register, please email your resume/credentials to Daniel.a.danzo.civ@mail.mil.

About Show-Me Heroes

The Show-Me Heroes program, established by Gov. Nixon in January 2010, helps connect military veterans with job opportunities when they return home from service. Administered by the Missouri Division of Workforce Development in partnership with the Missouri National Guard, Show-Me Heroes showcases Missouri businesses that appreciate the value that military experience can bring to the workplace. Employers participating in the Show-Me Heroes program sign a pledge to ramp up efforts to reach out to, recruit and interview veterans for job openings at their business. To date, 3,903 Missouri businesses have taken the Show-Me Heroes pledge and more than 6,600 veterans have been hired.
