The ACT National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC)
is a nationally recognized credential certifying that workers have the basic skills needed for success in a variety of industries and occupations.
More than 2.8 million NCRCs have been issued since 2006.
Awarded at four levels based on scores, the NCRC assesses individual abilities in 3 core areas:
math (perform basic math)
reading (read and understand documents)
locating information (find and determine the relevance of information; apply information derived from graphics)
Employers nationwide use the NCRC for screening, hiring, promotion, and fulfilling training needs for existing employees. Community benefits of NCRC include:
job seekers, students, and employees obtain valuable credentials;
employers and human resources professionals improve hiring, training, and promotion decisions;
workforce developers help displaced workers reenter
the job market;
economic developers get evidence of a skilled workforce to attract business to states and communities;
industry associations get occupation-specific credentials.
policymakers and legislators get data to address the nation’s economic and educational challenges.
