On Wednesday, MNsure announced that 159,000 Minnesotans
enrolled in quality, affordable health insurance coverage during the 2015 open
enrollment period. This includes 60,092 qualified health plan (QHP)
enrollments, 26,891 new MinnesotaCare enrollees and 72,017 new Medical
Assistance enrollees. The qualified health plan total includes both individual
and Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) enrollments.
These numbers are preliminary and are not yet final. We hope
to have a more complete number in the coming days. In addition, we enrolled
7,674 Minnesotans in a “dental-only” plan during the 2015 open enrollment
period.
Minnesotans who were "in line" to enroll on or by February
15—those who began the enrollment process but experienced difficulty,
preventing enrollment in time to make the February 15 deadline—will have their
enrollments processed during a special enrollment period. This extension ends
at 5:00 PM on Friday, February 20.

In an effort to raise awareness and lessen the tax burden
for some Minnesotans, we are offering a special enrollment period for
individuals who are required to pay a penalty for being uninsured in 2014 as
they file their 2014 tax return. This period will run March 1 to April 30,
2015.
Individuals will still be responsible for the 2014 tax
penalty, but this period will help eliminate or minimize 2015 tax penalties for
those who enroll. Coverage would begin on April 1, May 1 or June 1, 2015,
depending on timing of enrollment.
The 2015 open enrollment period is
now closed, but you still may qualify for 2015 enrollment in a qualified health
plan if you have experienced a life event such as having a baby or moving. Go

Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare recipients, members of federally
recognized Indian tribes or participants in the Small Business Health Options
Program (SHOP) may enroll year-round.
