Keystone

West Seventh Community Center has merged with Keystone Community Services as approved by the board of directors at both organizations, effective April 1, 2015.  “Keystone and West Seventh share similar missions, values and history as well as similar kinds of services and models of service delivery and thus are well-positioned to merge,” said Eric Nyberg, President of Keystone.

Express Turns 20!

Express Bike Show

Express Bike Shop is celebrating our 20th Birthday! We are planning a series of events including a community celebration on June 11, 2015 to thank our customers and bike donors, highlight the successful partnerships that made Express Bike possible and reconnect with apprenticeship graduates from the past 20 years. Express Bike Shop, a social enterprise and youth development program, takes used bikes, previously sitting idle in garages or fated for the scrap yard, and returns them to productive service.  Over the past 20 years, we have collected and refurbished, re-purposed or recycled over 20,000 bicycles and over 300 Saint Paul youth have completed a paid apprenticeshipsFollow Express Bike on Facebook.  Check back frequently for more information on 20th Birthday events and join us on June 11th!

Policy Update

Legistature

Ignite Afterschool’s bill to establish a competitive grant program for afterschool programs across MN has passed through the House (HF 947) and Senate (SF 1017) Education Committees, and now Ignite is pushing to get the bill into the Omnibus Education Budget, due to be released on April 14th. Unfortunately, the House and Senate Education budgets are much tighter than anyone projected, so the state needs a huge grassroots push if we want any afterschool funding this legislative session. Check out ways to get engaged on the Ignite Afterschool website
