Gardening program highlights fun of growing as a family
There's nothing like playing in the dirt to bring a family closer together. So just in time for the gardening season, St. Louis County Extension will welcome spring with a special program for kids and adults. “Grow Together: Family Garden Fun” will be held March 24, 6 p.m., at the City Center West/Evergreen Center located at 5830 Grand Avenue in Duluth.
The workshop begins with developing a garden plan followed by breakout sessions for youth and adults. Adult sessions will include soil testing, garden fertility, vegetable varieties and problem solving. The youth session will feature fun, hands-on activities that provide a practical start to the growing season. County Horticulturist Bob Olen, Agriculturist Kendall Dykhuis and St. Louis County Master Gardeners will all share their gardening expertise.
All individuals, families, and youth are encouraged to attend. There is a $20 fee per family or individual, which includes gardening supplies, educational materials and refreshments. Pre-registration is required as space is limited.
