Donald Dicklich wins state honor as Outstanding Auditor of the Year
St. Louis County Auditor/Treasurer Donald Dicklich has been honored by his peers as the Outstanding Auditor of the Year. The Minnesota Association of County Officers (MACO) presented the award to Dicklich on February 3 during the organization's annual conference in Bloomington. The award recognizes distinguished service to the community, County and the MACO organization.
Chief Deputy Auditor Nancy Nilsen submitted comments, some of which were used during the award ceremony, "(Don) always has the taxpayers on his mind when making decisions. He makes comments such as 'this is the taxpayer’s money and we need to use it wisely'...He is well versed in state statutes and follows the letter of the law... He has a wealth of financial knowledge that he uses for negotiating contracts and bonding projects. He has helped St. Louis County reach an AA+ Standard and Poor’s rating."
St. Louis County Commissioners will recognize Dicklich for his achievement on Tuesday, February 9, during their Board meeting, which beings at 9:30 a.m., and will be held in the Hermantown City Council Chambers.
Dicklich has been the Auditor/Treasurer for St. Louis County since 2004. He was most recently re-elected to a four-year term in 2014. The Auditor's Office has five major areas of responsibility, including elections, the tax division, clerk of Board, finance and accounting, and the service center. Dicklich oversees a staff of approximately 70 at three locations: the Duluth and Virginia Courthouses and the Auditor's Service Center at the Miller Hill Mall.
MACO's membership consists of more than 200 auditors, treasurers, recorders and finance officers from all 87 Minnesota counties.
