Temporary lane closures coming next week on Duluth's Fourth Street

Residents and motorists who travel on Duluth's Fourth Street should watch for short term road closures next week between Sixth Avenue East and Wallace Avenue. Crews will be conducting soil borings in preparation for the reconstruction of Fourth Street. The work is scheduled to begin Monday, January 4, and is expected to be complete and the road fully re-opened by Friday, January 8.

The temporary closures will be implemented one block at a time, and signs will be posted alerting people to the work being done. Access to homes and businesses will not be affected, and parking will still be permitted while the geotechnical investigations are taking place.

Fourth Street is scheduled for major reconstruction of both the road and the utilities beneath it beginning in the spring of 2016. The project is being conducted jointly between St. Louis County and the City of Duluth, and is expected to take two years to complete.
