Work begins August 27 to replace timber bridge on Echo Trail

A bridge replacement project on County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 116, also known as the Echo Trail, is scheduled to being Thursday, August 27. The road will be closed at the project site where the bridge crosses the Moose River, approximately 18 miles northwest of Ely. Detour signs will be posted directing motorists to use Forest Road, also known as the Moose Loop, as an alternative route.

The new bridge is expected to be complete in early November. The estimated cost for the project is $765,000, and is being funded with state aid dollars.

The existing timber bridge was built in 1956 and is considered structurally deficient.
