Nominations Sought for 2015 Ramsey County Public
Health Awards
SAINT PAUL, MN – (Jan. 22, 2015) – Nominations are now being accepted by Saint
Paul – Ramsey County Public Health for the 2015 Ramsey County Public Health
Awards. The awards honor individuals and groups who devote their time, energy
and talents to improving the public health of individuals, families and
communities in Ramsey County. Award nominations will close Monday, February 23,
2015, at 4:30 p.m.
“The awards have
been developed to recognize that public health is a concern of committed
individuals from all walks of life, working in many areas,” said Rina McManus,
Director of Saint Paul – Ramsey County Public Health. “The awards will honor
individuals and groups that are promoting healthy behaviors, protecting the
environment, and creating opportunities for healthy living through the span of
life,” she added.
Nominations will be accepted in two award categories:

Youth-Focused Award
(Individual or Group) – an individual 18 years or younger
at time of nomination, or an organization that is youth led.

Adult Award (Individual
or Group) – an individual 18 years or older at time of nomination, or a group (partnerships, community coalitions, organizations, etc.).
Award winners will be selected on how the individual or group has made an
exceptional contribution to the community in one or more of the following
areas:

Leadership – Nominee
has demonstrated leadership abilities through work and service.

Community Health
Improvement – Nominee demonstrates success in creating
solutions to public health
problems and has contributed to making improvements in the health
status of the community.

Collaboration – Nominee promotes
collaboration and cooperation among individuals, organizations, and agencies.

Advocacy – Nominee has been involved
in promoting health and healthy behaviors, and/or protecting the health and safety of County citizens.

Winners will be notified in early March, and the awards
will be presented during National Public Health Week at a regular meeting of
the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners, on Tuesday, April 7, 2015.
