Reinhardt named Chair of Ramsey County Board

The Ramsey County Board of Commissioners today elected Victoria Reinhardt as Chair of the Board for 2016.

Commissioner Reinhardt has represented District 7 (Maplewood, North Saint Paul, White Bear Lake and the Hillcrest area of Saint Paul) since 1997. She has served as chair twice previously from 2004-2005 and 2010-2011.

“Ramsey County is going through a historic transition. Together, as leadership and staff we are honing in our new vision, mission and goals to best serve our community,” said Reinhardt. “We’ve come a long way, but there’s still much to do. I am honored and humbled to serve as chair of what I believe with all of my heart to be the best county board in the country.”   

Reinhardt succeeds Commissioner Jim McDonough (District 6), who has served as chair since 2014. McDonough will chair the county’s Budget Committee in 2016.

“I have always been proud to serve with colleagues past and present on this board - and I have been especially proud to serve as chair for these past two years,” said McDonough. “We have a dedicated focus on being a county of excellence that puts residents first. Onward!”

Commissioner Janice Rettman (District 3) was elected to continue serving as vice chair.

Commissioner Rafael Ortega (District 5) was elected to continue serving as chair of theRamsey County Regional Railroad Authority. Commissioner Blake Huffman (District 1) was elected to continue serving as chair of the Ramsey County Housing and Redevelopment Authority.

The seven-member board voted unanimously for each of the appointments.
