Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office Seeks Witnesses to Fatal Bicycle Accident in Vadnais Heights on Friday, October 2, 2015

Public’s input sought to help determine the full story

Arden Hills, Minnesota: The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the community’s help to locate witnesses to a bicycle accident that occurred on Friday, October 2, 2015 at approximately 1:20 pm, in the 4200 block of Centerville Road, near the offices of TruGreen, in the city of Vadnais Heights.

When firefighters and medics arrived on scene they found a 57 year old male, later identified as Robert Prudhomme of Cottage Grove, injured in the roadway with people on hand rendering aid. The victim was transported by Allina medics to Regions Hospital.

Doctors had indicated that the injuries may not be consistent with a bicycle accident of this nature. With Mr. Prudhomme in critical condition and in a coma, he was unable to tell anyone what happened. He was taken off life support the morning of October 9. To help bring closure to his family and friends, the Sheriff’s Office is working to determine the cause of the bicycle accident.

It is believed that the bicyclist was southbound on Centerville Road at the time of his injury. It is known that multiple people stopped to render aid to the injured bicyclist. What is not known is how the accident happened. Sheriff’s Deputies investigating this incident are looking to talk to any person or persons who possibly saw how the bicyclist got injured or how he ended up on the roadway pavement.

It is believed that the vehicle closest to the victim around the time of the accident was a gray or silver GMC SUV that was occupied by a couple in their late 50’s to early 60’s.

If you were at the scene on Friday, October 2, and have information that may aid the investigation, or know the identity of persons who first arrived on scene to render aid, we ask that you immediately contact the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit at 651-266-7320.
