Free Gas Can Exchange Available for County Residents
Starting April 21, Ramsey County residents can bring old gas cans to the household hazardous waste collection site at 5 Empire Drive
in Saint Paul and exchange them for new, safer cans. Old portable gas
cans, like those used to fuel lawnmowers, release vapors that pollute
our air and contribute to ground level ozone and smog. Switching to a
new gas can that has thicker walls and spill-prevention features can
reduce pollution by as much as 75 percent.
New cans are available while supplies last. There is a limit of one new can per household.
