Proposed Draft Revisions to Air Quality Modeling Guidance

Greetings!

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has completed draft revisions to its current modeling guidance and is providing you with an opportunity to provide input on the proposed revisions. The draft version of the proposed revisions is found on the MPCA website.

The changes to the guidance include a new process for addressing non-standard modeling practices, the Equivalent or Better Dispersion method, and a refinement of the approach used to select a representative monitor for developing a background concentration. The MPCA will take your written comments until July 11, 2014. Your thoughts are very important to the development of modeling practice in Minnesota.

You may provide your written comments to the MPCA in a number of ways. First, you can fill out this survey. The survey link provides four open-ended questions pertaining to the modeling guidance revisions and is provided for your convenience.

The second means of providing commenting is to submit your thoughts to the MPCA by emailing them directly at airmodeling.pca@state.mn.us.

A third way to offer comments as well as see the new proposed working practices is to attend the MPCA Air Quality Dispersion Modeling Guidance: Modeling Practice & Experience Information Session on July 1, 2014, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, in Training Room 2 at the MPCA’s Saint Paul Office. If you would like to attend the meeting, please RSVP to airmodeling.pca@state.mn.us. A complete agenda will be provided on the MPCA website.

Thank your for your time and attention! We look forward to hearing from you and also seeing you on July 1st!

Best Regards,

MPCA Modeling Unit
