Increasing beverage container recycling in Minnesota: Public meeting

The state Legislature has directed the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) to produce a report that details recommendations for a statewide "recycling refund program" for beverage containers that achieves an 80 percent recycling rate. This report is due to the Legislature in January 2014. Public meeting: January 14, 2014

The second public meeting to review the updated program design and the cost-benefit analysis for the recommendations report to the Legislature on increasing the recycling of beverage containers is scheduled for January 14, 2014.

A draft of the cost-benefit analysis will be posted on the MPCA web site on January 7, 2014.

At the meeting, Tim Buwalda, Senior Consultant, Reclay StewardEdge, will present on the cost-benefit analysis.

This meeting will be held off-site due to space considerations at the MPCA. Unfortunately, we cannot webcast from this location.

Report to the Legislature

The purpose of the meeting is to allow for public comment and feedback on the work presented. To ensure these comments can be reflected, the report to the Legislature will be delayed from its January 15 deadline.
