Dear Community Partners:
Thank you for your support and continued interest in the
creation and appointment of an Equity Advisory Committee for the Metropolitan
Council. We have been delighted by the overwhelming response to the Council’s
call for applicants, as well as the quality of the candidates we have already
interviewed.
We have interviewed about half of the applicants so far –
and though we’re confident in the strength and commitment of the applicant
group, we also want to assure that we haven’t inadvertently missed a great
candidate or discouraged someone from applying by being unclear about the
deadlines.
The Council initially advertised that people who applied
prior to Jan. 4 would receive priority consideration – meaning they would be
the first to be considered by the selection committee. Since that time, it’s
come to our attention that others may be interested in applying but weren’t
clear that they still could.
The Council will receive applications at any time. We expect
to complete the interview process for this initial group of candidates by Feb.
17. If you or anyone associated with your organization is interested in
applying, we will commit to interview candidates who submit an application
between now and the end of that process. Logistically, we would need to receive
the application by the close of business on Friday, Feb. 12 (due to the holiday
and need to schedule candidates).
To apply, contact the Council’s appointments coordinator
– that way we know you’re interested, and we’ll know to look for your
application.
Thank you!
